Expanded Mesh Sunshade and Equipment Screen

Google Caribbean’s million-square-foot campus has two iconic design moments. First, on the north side of the structure is a brilliant green roof that zig zags from floor to floor, offering green space and walking paths for employees. Overlooking the green roof is an expanded mesh rooftop equipment screen. The APEX01 expanded mesh is an excellent material choice because its dimensional nature provides high levels of visual opacity, shielding people on the green roof below from the experiential interruption of unsightly HVAC equipment. The second iconic moment of BIG’s design plans is the building facade. They were very inspired by the form of expanded mesh and its criss-cross appearance, and created a close replication of it in the building facade sunshade. Inside the sunshade elements, AMICO’s Bellesa expanded mesh reduces glare and heat gain through the glass facade, saving energy and reducing the carbon footprint.
