Expanded Mesh Façade

The expanded metal facade allowed CCM3 to shape the surface of the hose tower for this fire station to give it depth with a double skin that provides a unique understanding of volume depending on how a visitor approaches the building. Expanded mesh is directional because of its dimensionality, having a different appearance depending on the viewing angle. The architect achieved this beautiful look by simply rotating the expanded mesh in different orientations from panel to panel.
