Plank Grating Façade

The Polygon Gallery in Vancouver boasts one of the most innovative facades that AMICO has been privileged to be a part of. To achieve this effect, a stainless-steel reflective metal base surface was first installed, and then AMICO plank grating was attached over it at an angle to provide visual directionality. Although this plank grating is the same material that AMICO might sell for industrial applications such as an oil rig walkway, the carefully angled detail and unexpected layering create a unique and exceptional design, a true moment of uncommon design vision. For their excellent work, Patkau Architects won a 2021 AIA Architecture award, which they rightly deserved.
